Terms of use

1. Booking

Appointments must be scheduled in advance and may be booked online, by phone, or in person.

2. Contagious Illness

Clients/patients must not attend appointments if they have a contagious infection. In such cases, cancellations may be eligible for a fee waiver. Please contact us via email to discuss options.

 3. Cancellations

Over 24 Hours’ Notice: No cancellation fee, the initial £30/hour deposit will be refunded.

Within 24 Hours: The £30/hour deposit will not be refunded.

4. Rescheduling

Between 12 and 24 Hours of Appointment: No rescheduling fee.

Within 12 Hours of Appointment: A rescheduling fee of £30/hour will apply.

5. Late Arrivals

Late arrivals may result in a shortened session or a need to reschedule. If rescheduling is required, the rescheduling fee of £30/hour will apply. 

6. Payment Terms

Payment is due at the time of service, either before or after the appointment. Accepted payment methods include contactless, bank transfer, or cash. A flat booking fee of £30 will be secured at the time of booking.

7. Insurance

SOP may provide receipts or documentation for patients to submit claims to their private health insurer. However, payment to SOP is required at the time of service, irrespective of insurance coverage.

8. Health Disclosure

Patients are responsible for providing complete and accurate information about their health history, medications, and symptoms to ensure safe and effective treatment.

9. Privacy and Confidentiality

SOP adheres to the UK Data Protection Act and GDPR to protect patient personal information, including health data. Patient data is confidential and will only be shared with third parties, such as GPs or insurers, with the patient’s explicit consent.

10. Informed Consent

Before treatment begins, patients will be fully informed of the potential benefits, risks, and options associated with the proposed treatment, and must provide their consent to proceed.

Patients under 16 years of age must attend appointments with a parent or legal guardian, who must provide consent on the patient’s behalf.

Patients aged 16 to 18 years are required to provide written consent from a parent or legal guardian prior to treatment.

11. Right to Withdraw Consent

Patients have the right to withdraw their consent to treatment at any time, including during a session.

12. Scope of Practice

SOP provides services strictly within the scope of osteopathy. Where symptoms suggest further investigation is necessary, SOP may refer patients to a GP or specialist.

13. No Guarantees of Outcome

SOP aims to relieve symptoms and improve function; however, outcomes vary and cannot be guaranteed.

14. Hygiene Standards

SOP is committed to maintaining high hygiene standards, including thorough cleaning of equipment and treatment spaces between appointments.

Clients/patients are requested to attend their appointment showered and in clean clothing.

15. Patient Conduct

Clients/patients are expected to conduct themselves respectfully towards SOP staff and other clients. Disruptive or unsafe behaviour may result in the termination of services, and the full session fee will still apply.

16. Limited Liability

SOP limits its liability in cases where patients do not provide accurate health information or fail to follow prescribed aftercare advice.

17. Insurance Coverage

The practitioner holds professional liability insurance, which covers claims directly arising from treatment provided at SOP.
